Welcome to What One Man Can Do…a film about the humanitarian and environmental efforts of John Denver. Terry Lipman, in partnership with JoLynn Long of JD Spirit, had a dream of completing this film in hopes that it would inspire millions to go out and make a difference in the world. Sadly, he was not to see the dream fulfilled as Terry unexpectedly passed away on June 2nd, 2009 of a heart attack.
As his wife of 18 years, I miss him more than I can say. However, I am a believer in the concept that everything happens in its time and for a reason. I have to trust thast God or the Great Spirit has chosen him for other work. In the meantime, I feel the best way I can honor Terry and his deepest desires, is to complete the film.
I am in Aspen this weekend to accept the John Denver Humanitarian award on Terry’s behalf. I am here representing him and his two children, Sam and Nancy Lipman, who could not be with me. In my heart, I know he is smiling and feeling so proud that his efforts did not go unnoticed.
This film is not just about John Denver. It’s about all of us. As John used to say, we each make a differernce whether we realize it or not. And those who make the biggest difference are those who do nothing. (Think about that for a second!) So, I ask you, what will you do today? Who will you be? What kindness will you show to another, what love can you provide to someone who is in need or what green steps can you take today? I believe, as Terry did, in the power of the human spirit. Come join us!
